The Sunday Reset - Inspired by Lemon Scented Tea Tree [Leptospermum petersonii]

A guide to embracing the new week

Spicy. Powerful. Forever lemon.

Where to start? The spicy lemon power of this oil has been revered for centuries for its cleansing and healing properties. It’s hard to think of any medicinal or sanitation purpose not suited to lemon scented tea tree.

Reputed to boost immunity and combat inflammation, it’s also one of our favourites. And it repels insects too!

A ritual reset

Why ‘tea tree’? It’s because the leaves from this hardy native evergreen make the most delicious soft lemon-flavoured infusion. The leaves are also great when chopped up and added to salads.

Why not harvest some leaves (see below) and relax with a soothing cup of tea?

A nature reset

Make it your mission to find some lemon scented tea tree. The shrub is often grown in gardens, and it flourishes in the wild. You can recognise it by the narrow leaves growing from dark red stems, or its beautiful white flowers. And its heavenly lemony scent of course! Just brushing up against it releases its aroma.

Thought for the week

“Nature has patterns, rhythms and regularities—what philosopher Alfred North Whitehead called its ‘temporary habits’. But it has no laws, and no lawmaker; it just is.”

Damon Young, Philosophy in the Garden
