How to spend time in nature with your dog

For most dogs, spending time in nature comes, well… naturally. Just like we reap the mental and physical benefits of time spent in nature, dogs require time outside for at least a few hours each day, both for exercise and their overall wellbeing. Even older dogs who no longer enjoy long walks or runs benefit from the stimuli of outdoor sights, sounds, and scents.

As any dog owner knows, the thing your four-legged friend treasures most is your time. So, why not make the most of it and spend time with your dog out in nature? Dogs of all breeds benefit from daily walks; in summer, it’s best to walk your dog either in the early morning or late evening to prevent them from overheating.

More athletic dogs also enjoy hiking and running, which can be an amazing way for both of you to exercise while reaping the restorative benefits of forest bathing; just look for dog-friendly parks or trails in your state. Alternatively, try camping for a more laid-back approach. The ideal type of vacation for people with dogs, camping is the perfect way for you and your dog to escape urban environments and reconnect with nature. For both you and your dog, regular contact with nature and outdoor environments can play a crucial preventive role in mental health by working to reduce stress and enhance your overall quality of life.

Some dogs crave getting completely saturated and muddy, so why not let them go wild at dog friendly beach or waterway near you.

Even just walking to the local café and sitting outside in the fresh air is an opportunity to experience nature and meet other dogs and humans for that matter.

And don’t worry how dirty your furry friend gets whilst out in nature. A well-deserved bath with new Koala Eco Natural Dog Wash when you get home will work wonders.
