Can cleaning be an aromatherapy experience?

Can cleaning be an aromatherapy experience?

Many of our customers often say that once they’ve begun using our KOALA ECO safe, non-toxic cleaning products, their attitude towards cleaning changes.  They feel reinvigorated mentally and physically, having had a natural aromatherapy experience.  Customers note an entirely different set of feelings when using our essential oils based cleaning products as to when using synthetic infused ones. But why would this be?

Is it because they feel good about knowing that what their using has no harsh effects on the environment and is completely safe to use around their children and pets?  Chances are that this may play a role, but the actual ‘feel good’ sensations their experiencing comes from the ingredients in the products themselves.

Before going on, we should probably touch on what we mean by an ‘aromatherapy experience’. As defined by www.HealthLine.com, Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it's called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health.

Natural Fragrance plays a large role

It’s been scientifically proven that specific smells trigger various reactions in our moods.  They can also call on old, almost forgotten about memories.  For example, if you’re in the car and drive past a property that has just had their lawns cut, this smell of freshly cut grass causes a lot of us to recall memories from our childhood.  Depending on if we associate these memories with positive or negative feelings will determine the way we react to that smell.

What’s in our cleaning products that makes you feel so good?

On the other side of the spectrum, there are certain fragrances which can cause us to experience certain sensations without having ever experienced them before.  This is particularly common in essential oils, which are essentially highly aromatic and concentrated liquids that are extracted from certain flora, barks and leaves.

In our cleaning products, we use specific essential oils which have their own antiseptic properties as well as irresistibly all natural authentic fragrances. Some of the top fragrances and highly therapeutic essential oils used in our cleaning products include; rosemary, lemon-scented eucalyptus, peppermint, mandarin, lemon myrtle and pink grapefruit. It is the fragrance of these products (either on their own or combined) which attribute to that aromatherapy experience described by so many of our customers.

What are these essential oils doing for our mental state?

Once you start to expose yourself to these essential oils, you’ll begin to realise the soothing and calming effect that comes with them.  Whether if it’s the warm, soothing tones of rosemary that come through when washing your hands, or the sweet, uplifting aromas coming from your multi-purpose kitchen cleaner, all of these natural scents have the potential to positively impact on your mood when cleaning with them.

Try it out for yourself!

The next time you use one of our cleaning products, be on the lookout for the rich and natural fragrances that emanate from them.  Some customers say that these scents make cleaning pleasurable and when you go to clean, you relate cleaning to this new happy experience and the invigorating fragrance that radiates from the products.
